Lighthouses of Australia The Offshore Lights by John Ibbotson is a 12” x 10.5” (305 x 267mm) 288 page coffee table book that includes a wealth of information and stunning photographs about Australia’s remote lighthouses and buoys and the people who maintain them. With its companion book, Lighthouses of Australia Images from the End of an Era they provide photographs and information for over 450 of Australia’s coastal, highway and major harbour Aids to Navigation and together are the only comprehensive, published record, of these important Australian icons. The Offshore Lights contains:
  • 500 colour photographs of over 300 different lighthouses and buoys, or their stunning locations, from around Australia with concise, informative captions for each of the lights.

  • 11 detailed maps showing the location and status of Australia’s lighthouses.

  • A section modern lighthouse lanterns and lenses and the people who make them.

  • A history of Australia’s lighthouse tenders and a personal account, including 3 route maps, of two voyages done on the MV Cape Grafton / MV Southern Supporter.

It was the first Australian light to be powered by the “Le Carbonone” “Y” cell, non-rechargeable batteries. It is now a GRP cabinet with a solar powered FA-250 beacon.
